Four alumni are being honored as recipients of this year’s Cox Distinguished Alumni Award.
In February, Dr. Simon Mak, professor of practice in entrepreneurship and associate director of the Caruth Institute, launched an undergraduate entrepreneurship club that is open to students campus-wide. The club’s mission is to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in undergraduate students throughout the university. The club’s kick-off event was held in February and featured keynote speaker Andres Ruzo, founder/CEO of LinkAmerica, the 2012 Dallas 100 #1 company.
The end of the academic year brings honor and recognition across the SMU campus. In the case of some Cox faculty members, it brings recognition beyond campus year round. Following is a sampling of some faculty accomplishments in just the past few weeks.
Commencement week is an exciting time for any student completing a degree program, but for Clay Laughter (MBA ’13), the week started with a whole different level of excitement. Clay flew to New York to be a guest on the nationally syndicated CNBC television program “On the Money with Maria Bartiromo.”
The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) selected Stephanie Aranda (MSA ‘13) as an Accounting Legacy Scholar. Aranda was recently featured in the organization’s promotional video and website explaining the program and her educational experience.
