SMU Cox FTMBA Class of 2013 graduate Clayton Laughter was one of four recent MBA graduates featured on CNBC’s “On the Money with Maria Bartiromo” over the Memorial Day weekend. Laughter, who concentrated in energy finance, represented the Cox School in a conversation about the value of an MBA in an unpredictable job market. Bartiromo interviewed Laughter, two students from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, one from UVA Darden School of Business and one from NYU’s Stern School of Business. The program was taped May 13 at the Stern School. It aired in local markets on Saturday, May 25 and was broadcast nationally and internationally on CNBC on Sunday, May 26. Laughter, who worked as an electrical engineer prior to being accepted into the Cox FTMBA program, was weighing three different energy finance job offers shortly before graduation. The week before he flew to New York for the CNBC interview, Laughter accepted a position with a Houston-based oil & gas consulting firm.
Commencement week is an exciting time for any student completing a degree program, but for Clay Laughter (MBA ’13), the week started with a whole different level of excitement. Clay flew to New York to be a guest on the nationally syndicated CNBC television program “On the Money with Maria Bartiromo.”
